A hard day at play

Despite only being 4 1/2 months old, Ryan plays hard. So much so that he wears himself out. He was too pooped to leisurely enjoy the swing, instead he passed out. Thankfully he gradually eased himself to the tray, no hard thuds. The nap lasted about 30 minutes.

4 month milestones

Ryan turned 4 months old on Wednesday. Here are pictures of him and Dean as well as him and me. Dean just got home from work, that's why he's wearing a nicer shirt.

I, on the other hand, was spit up on and had to change clothes. This was a theme this week - Ryan spits up, mommy has to change her clothes.

Along with turning 4 months old came the introduction of Rice Cereal. Here is his first attempt at eating it. He did pretty well, in total ate maybe 3 or 4 teaspoons. Dean and I kept wiping his mouth and face. I know a messy face picture would've been better, but for whatever reason we bathed him before he ate.

First Music Class

After all the years I spent planning park district programs for other people's kids, I finally get the chance to enjoy them with my own child. Ryan and I are signed up for a music class on Wednesday mornings at the Round Lake Area Park District. Here he is dressed for his first class.

There were 6 kids enrolled. Noah, Emily, Cayden (a girl), and twins Cash and Kenzie (a boy and a girl). Emily was born the day after Ryan was. The teacher's name is Diane and it was the first time she has taught this particular class. She did a great job. We are looking forward to spending the next 7 Wednesday mornings with her and the rest of the bunch!

Since February 4

After music class on Wednesday, we did a lot through the rest of the week. Thanks again to Meema for coming to paint the family room. We (okay she), got through so much on Wednesday, that we were able to take a fieldtrip on Thursday to a place we hadn't been - IKEA. We were there from 10:30-3:30 and Ryan was an angel, he likes to shop. I had to take this picture of him wearing the denim hat.

Here's a couple of photos of our family room before painting (boring white walls, yuck)

And here are the afters! The side wall and little wall with the garbage can and calender are a light gray and the wall with the entertainment center is a dark gray. I know they have blue tones to them, but they are gray.

Home Makeover

I've already dressed up my son and the dog. Although Dean and I could both use updated looks ourselves, that'd take more time and money than we can currently muster. My next cabin fever cure was to makeover a few spaces in our house. Namely the entry hall and living room. The first pictures are the befores, though this is not how the furniture was arranged. Likewise I took these after I took down the flower border that was above the chair rail and decor from the walls.

Here are the afters, I still am deciding where and what pictures to put on the walls.

Special thanks to my mom (Meema) for coming to help paint and to my friend Joanne for watching Ryan while we worked. Next room up on the makover, the family room. It will be completed when Meema can get back up to help!

Here was our hallway before (minus a few pictures on the wall)

And here is our hallway after (still minus a few pictures on the wall). The color is lighter than what is at the top of the living room walls. It's better than the stark white! I'm still deciding where to hang a few pictures, that's why the walls are bare.
